University president finds her ER training handy in a turbulent time
Long before she became president of the University of Minnesota, Rebecca Cunningham trained in emergency medicine. She draws on that experience often these days. Cunningham, who is also a public health researcher, is just a year into steering a public university with five campuses and more than 70,000 students through a time of profound uncertainty.
